“Civil Society” was named a separate sub-sector under the “Democracy and Governance” sector of the second phase of Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance for Turkey (2014-2020). In the Country Strategy Paper (CSP), adopted 26 August 2014, objectives of this sub-sector are listed as the development of civil society through more active democratic participation in policy and decision making processes; promote a culture of fundamental rights and dialogue; enhance civil society dialogue and inter-cultural exchange between civil societies in Turkey and Europe. For the term 2014-2020 a sum of 190 million Euros will be allocated to CSO’s in Turkey.

CIVIL SOCIETY

In the programming phase firstly the Sector Planning Document (SPD) was prepared for the years 2014-2017 to analyse the current status of the sector and to define the sectoral approach to be followed. According to the SPD, overall objective of the sector is to contribute to further strengthen democratic structures and processes, fundamental rights and the rule of law, thereby also supporting the EU integration process; and the specific  esteklenmesi” şeklinde tanım-lanmıştır.
